Planting seeds

Every spring my interest in gardening revives and for the last couple of years I have enjoyed growing vegetables with mixed success.
Having the choice of buying a few advanced plants or planting seeds this year I chose seeds. There is something so basic about planting seeds. It feels like you are participating in creation. The seed disappears into the soil and everyday I water and wait. How exciting it is when the ground swells and a single leaf pushes up.
No wonder Jesus taught so much from this most fundamental experience of how life is produced. The principles contained in the process of seed-time and harvest apply to almost every facet of our daily lives.
“What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—
harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.” (Gal 6 The Message)
