Scale of 1-10
Wed/Jun/2009 09:58 AM
A few weeks ago I had to take Joan to hospital in
severe pain.
After initial examination the doctor asked her, “On a scale of 1-10, how severe is the pain?
How do you answer a question like that? After all each person’s pain threshold is different isn’t it?
Joan answered, “About 7/8” I was thinking more like 13!!
I guess it is always like that whenever we are asked for a subjective judgement. It is always easier if we have a set of figures or at least a benchmark to which we can make a comparison.
So what about this question, “On a scale of 1-10, How committed am I to Christ and His church?”
One person may answer 10 on the basis that they attend once a month!
Another may answer 5 on the basis that they attend, give and serve every week but have not yet suffered persecution and death!
We’ve got to keep it all in perspective don’t we?
So what’s the answer? “How committed am I to Christ and His Church?”
I’ll have to give it some more thought!
