Separation
Wed/Aug/2009 09:18 AM
We have been separated for the last couple of weeks.
No! Joan and I have not separated from each other but we (together) have been separated from our loved ones.
We have missed two weeks with our beautiful Beachside people and at the same time two of our daughters have been overseas for three weeks.
Which is true? Does “Absence make the heart grow fonder?” or is it “out of sight, out of mind”?
In general terms I suppose it depends on many factors.
Our separation has been relatively short compared to many who are separated from their loved ones for months or even years at a time.
Nothing tests the strength of a relationship like separation. Whether it makes the heart grow fonder or the opposite often depends on how strong the bond was in the first place.
For us, on this occasion, it has definitely been a case of the heart growing fonder. We have already had a very “huggy” reunion with our daughters and can’t wait to see our wonderful Beachsiders next Sunday.
